Opal Padgett, 79, of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her warmth, love, strength and passion for life will certainly be missed.
Opal was a member of the Ancient City Baptist Church, and retired from the Florida East Coast Railroad. Spending time with her family was her favorite pastime, but she also had a passion for gardening. In years past Opal happily participated in the Ancient City Red Hatters Club, the St. Augustine Piecemakers and the Garden Club of St. Augustine (Shamrock Circle).

Mrs. Padgett was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Harry Padgett.

She was the dear mother of Larry Padgett, Angela Bacon and Mark Padgett; beloved grandmother of Doug Bradley, Elissa Padgett, John Padgett and Rodney Padgett; and great-grandmother of Christian Bradley.

Visitation will be at Craig Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at Craig Memorial Park, 2600 Old Moultrie Road. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
