Naval Surgeon.
Admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons on 20 December 1833.
Joined the Royal Navy as an assistant surgeon on 28 Febraury 1835.
Appointed Hospital Mate at the Royal Hospital, Haslar, in Gosport, Hampshire on 8 April 1835.
Appointed to the Revenge, stationed in Lisbon, as assistant surgeon on 6 June 1839.
Awarded a medal for his service off the coast of Syria and the capture of St Jean d'Acre in 1840.
Promoted to surgeon as of 4 November 1840.
Joined the Ardent as surgeon on 28 July 1841. and sailed to Africa in 1841, South America in 1843, and back in Africa in 1844.
From 1846 he was a surgeon in charge of convicts.
Joined the Amazon on 3 November 1848, bound for the East Indies.
Transferred to the sloop Columbine in Hong Kong on 23 August 1849.
1851 married Francis "Fanny" Alderson Alderson.
Joined the Britannia, as surgeon, on 4 December 1850 then the Neptune on 1 December 1851.
1852 daughter Fanny Shuttleworth Baker is born in Portsmouth.
His first wife dies.
Henry resigned from the navy about 1854.
1855 marries Sarah Amelia Hart of Woodham Mortimer.
