She was born January 16, 1918 in Hopkins County, KY to the late John Daniel Harris and Emily Jane Cates Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Texal Ashby in 1992 and a son, Everett Ashby in 1998.
Mrs. Ashby was a member of Providence Rural United Methodist Church and she also attended Covenant Community Church. She was an avid sports fan.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean (Buddy) Bourland of Madisonville; two sons, Danny (Cheri) Ashby and Doug (Ginger) Ashby both of Hanson; a daughter-in-law, Kay Kinchen of Madisonville; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Barnett Strother Funeral home with Pastor Michael Knight and Mr. Joey Ashby officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Hanson.
Friends may call the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 and from noon until service time on Sunday.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donation to Green River Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
