Elsie Gray Beard, of Denmark, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Lexington Medical Center. She was born April 3, 1945, in Denmark, a daughter of the late John U. and Annie Laurie Gillam Gray. She was a retired business associate with Bamberg County Department of Social Services and a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church where she was the church organist.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Beard, of Denmark; a son, Mark and his wife, Lisa Beard, of Orangeburg; a daughter, Karen and her husband, Trent Rentz, of Ehrhardt; a brother, William H. Gray, of Bamberg; and grandchildren, Kayla Beard, Kaitlyn and Barrett Rentz.

Funeral services will be held at Ghents Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremiah Henderson and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
