BEATRICE TIMES,SEPT.30,1943
Funeral Services were held yesterday afternoon for Harold Shaffer,9,son of Mr. and Mrs.Roy Shaffer,who was killed in a highway accident near Ashland on Sunday.Rev. Swigart Miller conducted services at the Harman-Johnson funeral home,with music by a vocal trio of Mrs. Keith Roberts,Marian Evans and Margaret Curtis,accompanied by Mrs. M. G. Winne. They sang "The Lord is my Shepherd". Later in the afternoon rites were held at the South Beatrice Church of the Brethern in charge of Rev. Emerson Shideler,pastor, with burial in the church cemetery. The same trio sang "Ivory Palaces","When He Cometh" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". Casket bearers were Ray Dell,Paul Dell,Kenneth Evans and Robert Switzer. The parents and two sisters Rachel and Betty survive.
