Georgia Marriages, 1851-1900
Name: Decatur Teague
Spouse: Artimincy A. Ross
Marriage Date: 18 Aug 1860
County: Gilmer
State: GA
NOTE: From this union was born a daughter, Jennie Elizabeth "Jinsy" Teague.

(special thanks to Busy Bee #47304647 for the following info) Records of Gilmer County, Georgia also show the following: Decatur Teague & Artimincy Adaline Ross were married on Aug 18, 1860 (Marriage Book 4, Pg 310). No further record found for Artimincy Ross Teague. She was daughter of Martin & Artimincy Ross; the Ross family was still in Gilmer County in 1860; however, burial locations are unknown.

Decatur's sister is Mary Elizabeth Teague Thompson, Memorial #13678836. He also had a brother named Robert, however no memorial has been found for him. One source said he never married, served in the Union Army during Civil War, and is buried in the "Teague Cemetery" wherever that might be. I interpret it to mean "we haven't the slightest idea where he is buried".

(special thanks to Dwight Dover for the following info) - The attendant at Laurel Grove Cemetery told me that Decatur died of Typhoid at the age of 20 on Feb 3, 1862 and buried on Feb 4. I was then able to find the Confederate Muster Roll for his unit at: http://www.sos.ga.gov/archives/what_do_we_have/online_records/confederate_muster_rolls/images/cmr11866.jpg . That information stated he enlisted on Nov 7, 1861 in Ellijay, GA ; and, it also shows that he died on Feb 2, 1862. From the 1850 US Census, Decatur was living with his father, Michael, and two siblings.
