Mrs. Nancy Clayton, 72, died at the Community Hospital at 2 a.m. last Thursday morning. She had entered the hospital only two days before but had been treated for cancer for several months.
Deceased was born September 18, 1888, in Star Valley, Wyo., a daughter of Edwin and Eliza Ann Bassett. She attended school in Star Valley and later in Lowell, Wyo., where she moved with her family. Later the family moved to Kane, Wyo.
Mrs. Clayton was married April 29, 1918, to William N. Clayton at Thermopolis, Wyo., and following their marriage the couple resided at the ML ranch near Kane. In 1920 they moved to Shepherd where they resided until 1932 when they came to Sweet Grass county and purchased the old McCall ranch east of Big Timber.
Mr. Clayotn died in August 1956.
Mrs. Clayton was an active member of the Big Timber Women of the Moose for many years.
Survivors are three sons, Gerald Clayton of Buckeye, Ariz.; and George and Bill of Big Timber; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Wilma) Polson of Columbus, and nine grandchildren.
