CENTENARIAN DIES
LA PORTE, Ind., March 3.--(AP)--Mrs. Margaret Canfield Carpenter, who would have been 102 years old June 2, died Wednesday night [March 1] in the Ruth C. Sadin Home here. Mrs. Carpenter was born in Hanna in 1859. Her husband, Leonard, served in the Civil War, returned to La Porte county to farm and died in 1924. She came to the home in 1928. Funeral services will be in La Porte Saturday with burial in Union Mills cemetery.
