1st Marriage - Clarissa Pratt on May 4, 1834
Of this marriage nine children. Located resting place of all except Sarah Canfield b: Jan.26,1835 Cranesville, Erie co., PA d: April 27,1835 same as birth place.

2nd Marriage - Mary Elizabeth Mun on April 1869
Of this marriage two children: Clarissa Canfield Dettweiler and George D. Canfield.

*It seems it was a common practice to give a child the name of a child who had passed away. This can cause confusion when searching the family tree.

Gideon married on May 4,1834, 1st wife CLARISSA Pratt b:1814 d:1867
They had nine children. A daughter was named CLARISSA PHALINDA b:1836 d:1863.*

After the death of his 1st wife in 1867 Gideon married his 2nd wife Mary Elizabeth nee: Mun, Hitchcoock, in April 1869. They had two children, George b:1872 d:1924 and CLARISSA PHALINDA b:1870 d:1939.
