Together with six other parachutists (Jan Kubis , Jozef Gabcík, Adolf Opalka, Jaroslav Švarc, Jan Hruby and Josef Valcik), during and after the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich they hid in the crypt of the Orthodox Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Prague. Cadet officer Bublik and his fellow paras fought it out in prague before being overwhelmed. As a last ditch effort, they killed themselves instead of surrendering to the Nazis. They were betrayed by two of their own fellow soldiers, Sgt. Maj. Karel Curda and Cpl. Viliam Gerik.
