Rensselaer Falls — Mrs. Florence Adele Oatman, 84, died at 9:05 a.m. yesterday (Jan. 10. 1949) at the Barkley Nursing Home in Rensselaer Falls following a long illness.
Born near Rensselaer Falls Aug. 13, 1864, she was the daughter of Lafayette and Rosamond Rice Puffer. She was graduated from Heuvelton High School and from Potsdam State Teachers College in 1888. For eight years she taught school in Fresno, Calif.
Mrs. Oatman was three-times married, her first husband was Robert Ivans of Mercedes, Calif., second, Jerome Ripley of Canton, and third, Gaius Oatman of Adams.
Mr. Oatman operated a farm near Adams Center and in 1940 he died.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert Blair, Adams Center: Mrs. Edward Tabern, Adams; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in? Heuvelton. The Rev. Allan G. Bowering, pastor of the Heuvelton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Hillcrest Cemetery, Heuvelton.
