When just a child, he moved with his family, to the Minisink area of Northwest New Jersy. He married here about 1735, to Appollonia Van Garden.
The Minisink Reformed Dutch Church was organized in 1736. It was directly across the river from Minisink Island. This was a circuit church and was served my a traveling preacher. A churchyard cemetery was begun as a final resting place for its members.
In 1739 Dirk was the only Quick listed as taxable in the Minisink precinct.
He was the father of six known children;
