Services for George B. Garrett 77 of Kermit were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Belvue Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Campbell officiating.

Burial was in Kermit Cemetery.

Garrett died Sunday , April 2, 1989 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born Oct. 4, 1911 in Stonewall County and married Mary Elizabeth Lewis July 17 ,1933 in Clovis,N.M.

Garrett was owner and operator of Garrett Lumber Yard in Springer N. M. and a former municipal judge. He was a member of Belview Baptist Church and had lived in Kermit 15 years.

Survivors include his wife;two sons,Lewis Garrett of Alvin and Jim Garrett of Kermit ;three daughters,Glenda Cox of Mill Hall,Pa.,Ila Kay Blaksten of Denver,Colo.,and Nancy Jespersen of Springer,N.M.;a brother,Ed Lee Garrett of Buffalo,Wyo.,three sisters,Millie Mae Cooper of Tucumcari, N. M.;Josephine Stranich of Bayfield,Colo.;and Bernandine Teek of Pueblo,Colo.;21 grandchildren;and 26 great grandchildren.

Pall bearers were:Howard Blacksten,Jr.,Ernie Jespersen, Tim Jespersen,Carl Garrett,Charles Sanmann and Roger Carter.

Honorary pallbearers were:Denver Way,Sr.,and Zola Kinnard
