"L. D. Ramey enlisted April 20, 1962 in Mobile, Alabama in Co. F, 43 Regt, Ala Inf. for 3 years. Entered CSA service as a 2nd Lt by Election." His roster listed as follows: "43rd Alabama Volunteers, Gracie's Brigade; Johnsons Division; Anderson Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, mustered into service May 15, 1862 for 3 years of the war." He was in Richmond, Virginia Chimborazo Hospital No. 5 from May 16, 1864 to June 16, 1864 after which he was given a 60 day furlough. He also suffered from consumption.
