Rachel Adams was the first born child of Ellington Adams and Elizabeth (Gorden) Adams. She was born in Kentucky prior to the family moving to Prairieton Township in Christain County in Illinois, just west of Moweaqua, Illinois. She was a sister to Isom, Joseph R., George William, Martin V., James Robert, Randall Richard and John C. Adams as well as her sisters Martha (Bramblett) and Lucy Adams. She married George F. Rice and had five children; John W. Rice, Sarah E. Rice, George F. Rice (the last two of which died at an early age) as well as Isabell (Wash) and Elizabeth (Markwell). Rachel was only 37 years old when she died in 1857.
