Wayne D. Carter 1928 ~ 2007 Wayne Durward Carter , age 78, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2007 due to complications of diabetes. He was born May 5, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Durward Carter and Rebecca Clarissa Hansen. He moved to Hollywood, CA during the depression years and attended John Marshall High. There he formed his first dance band and performed in the Junior Hollywood Paladium. He returned to Utah his senior year, graduating from South High in 1946. He attended the University of Utah and met his sweetheart Geraldine Ramsey. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 18, 1948. At age 17 he auditioned with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir where he sang and served faithfully for 33 years. He originated the "Men of Note" dance band where he played tenor saxophone and was also the vocalist. Wayne would play dance jobs Friday and Saturday night then arise early Sunday morning to sing the weekly choir broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word." He worked for the Federal Government at the Hill Air Force Base as a Data Systems Analyst and Programmer. Music was an important part of family life. Singing on family vacations and Christmas caroling of neighbors and friends were cherished memories. Wayne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm and enduring testimony of its teachings. We love you Dad. He is survived by his wife Gerry Carter ; children: Dr. Stephen (Bonnie) Carter , Greg (Vickie) Carter , Debra (Kevin) Andersen, Brad (Donalynn) Carter , David (Lisa) Carter , Julie Ann Henneman; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 6. 2007 at 12:00 Noon at the Cottonwood 10th Ward, 4930 So. Westmoor Road (1660 E.) Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive and again at the Church Friday 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
