Matthias (Mike) Kazda died as a result of injuries received in action in Germany during the war.

His body was first buried in Solers Cemetery near Paris with full Military honors. In 1948 the body was returned to the states.

Sergeant Kazda, an Infantryman, had been wounded twice before, once while serving as a paratrooper and again on Dec. 17 in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium.
