Mr. Bart Edward "Scotty" McPherson, age 89, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, March 10th in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born to William Franklin and Dora Baker McPherson at Lockesburg, Arkansas on June 10, 1921. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a retired Power Plant Engineer in Wichita, Kansas, after 30 years service. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, and enjoyed gardening, carpentry, and music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Hazel Marie Wilson McPherson, and a son, Bart McPherson, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Virgie Ward Downs McPherson of De Queen, a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Rimon and Carol McPherson of Killeen, Texas, two daughters and sons-in-law, Yolanda and Daylon Cranford of South Lake, Texas, and Deldee Marie and Dan Rey of Lake Tapps, Washington; a daughter-in-law, Kay McPherson of Wichita, Kansas; two stepsons, Phillip and his wife, Karen Downs, and Steven Downs all of De Queen, two step-daughters and their spouses, Deborah and Sid Stahlman, and Tammy and James Simmons all of De Queen; six grandchildren, Karen Game of England, Jason Rey of Wichita, Kansas, Melanie Rooney of Seattle, Wash., Ryan McPherson and Matthew McPherson both of Alaska, and Sarah Cranford of South Lake, Texas, three Great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Isaac, and Peter Game of England; eight step-grandchildren, Sherri Downs, Devin Downs, Megan Downs, Elizabeth Downs, Jason Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Staci Simmons and Jared Simmons, five step-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Scotty McPherson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Sullivan and Rev. Byron Sullivan officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery, Grannis, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, March 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
