Kaysville - Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Ellen Ruth Astle Larsen, passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, March 10, 2011.

She was a wonderful mother and example to her children. She taught them to strive to achieve their best in all their endeavors.

Ellen was born on April 23, 1922 in Garland, Utah, to James William and Minnie Mae Snyder Astle. She was raised in Garland, and graduated from Bear River High School.

She married her sweetheart, Shirley Lavor Larsen, on December 19, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They later moved to Kaysville, Utah where they made their home and raised their four children: Sandra (Craig) Goaslind, of Bountiful, Camille (H. Lynn) Galbraith, of Kaysville, Annette (Eldon¬ deceased) Hardy, of Las Vegas, NV, and Scott Lavor (Gina) Larsen, of South Weber. She lost her sweet "Shirl" on April 4, 2002.

Ellen was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout her lifetime. She was a very talented lady and was considered a very accomplished seamstress, making prom dresses, wedding gowns, and always kept her three girls dressed with the best of clothes.

She loved drawing and sketching all of her life, and in later years she pursued her lifelong dream of oil painting. Many of her paintings adorn her children's homes as well as her own home and homes of many others.

Ellen is survived by her four children, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Shirl; four brothers: Theodore, Arlie, Clarence and Arthur Astle; and two sisters: Ida Thorpe and Edith Limb.
