Long time valley resident Dorothy Imogene Talley, 98, died June 8, 2006 Casa Illuminaria Nursing Home in Del Norte, Colo.

Dorothy was born June 11, 1907 in Monte Vista, Colo. to Edward M Fisher and Anna I Timmons fisher. She married Wayne Orville Talley on august 3, 1931 in Alamosa, Colo.

Dorothy was a devout member of the Episcopalian faith and attended St Stephen the Martyr Church of Monte Vista, and St Thomas Episcopal Church of Alamosa; in addition she was an active part of the Alter Guild.

She loved children and dedicated herself to her family. In between being an active mother and homemaker she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing singles and couples bridge. She also enjoyed playing piano, reading, and going to the opera with her husband. Dorothy loved having family picnics in the mountains.

She served as a Past Regent and charter member of the Almosa Daughters of American Revolution, was a member of the Half Century Club, current Events Club, the Book Review Club, the Child Study Club, and the Athenian Club. She was the Ski Hi Stampede Queen in 1927, and was a runer-up for Miss Colorado a the age of 17.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Wayne Orville Talley of Del Norte; her children Shirley I Roberts of Orday, Colo, Rodney W (Nelly) Talley of Centennial, Colo, Robert "Bob" G Talley of Aurora, Colo, K Anne (John) Plummer of Canon City, Colo, David F (Pat) of Alamosa, Colo, S Paul Talley of Monte Vista, and Bill M (Kay) Talley of Alamosa, her daughter-in-law Margaret Anne Talley of Alamosa; as well as 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren and her nieces Paulette (Keith) O'Malley of Tucson, Ariz, and Nancy (Rafielo) Lopez of Glendale, Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard Talley, and her brother Warren Fisher.

A graveside service was held 11am Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Monte Vista Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the St Stephens Episcopal Church in her memory.

Funeral services are in care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Monte Vista.
