Flossie R. Garner, age 73, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her residence in Abilene. Services will be at 12 noon Wednesday at Denton Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will be in Kendrick Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home, Inc., 3349 N. 12th Street.
Mrs. Garner was born August 29 1930 in Clyde, Texas to Ray and Eddie Allen. The family moved to Whittier, California in 1935. Flossie graduated from Excellsior High School in Norwalk, California. She returned to Abilene, Texas in 1963. She was employed as a cook for the Abilene State School for ten years, transferring to the Fort Worth State School where she retired in 1991 as a Food service supervisor. She was a member of the American Bowling Congress and was actively bowling for several leagues.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. D. Garner; her parents, Ray and Eddie Allen; a brother, Fred Allen; three sisters, Joyce Roberts, Pearl Waytte and Pauline Allen; three grandchildren, Jenny Sommers, Tamara Chavous and Joe Dale Roberts.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Abilene Funeral Home.
The family will be at 925 Mulberry Street. Flossie was a sister, mother and grandmother; but most importantly, she was a loving friend to all.
