One of the colorful characters of this section, Ted Grahl, died Saturday, Dec. 24, in Adair Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for about a week. However, Mr. Grahl, who was 81 years of age, had been ill for more than a year.

He was well-known and greatly liked throughout this area, having been in the restaurant business in Russell, Adair, Taylor, and other counties. He was a native of Baltimore, MD, and had served a four-year hitch in the U.S. Navy.

He was married to Lou Ann Bailey, and to this union four children were born. He is survived by his wife and by the following children: Raymond Grahl of Cincinnati, Russell Grahl, who has recently retired from the Navy, Russell Springs, Mrs. Ruby Stephens, Russell Springs, and Mrs. Maxie Koser, Manheim, PA.He also leaves six grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Florence Grahl, Baltimore, MD.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning, Dec 27, in the Freedom Church of God, Adair County, and was conducted by Bro. Oval Smith and Bro. J.H. Boyd. Mr. Grahl, who was a member of the Masonic Order, was honored with rites at the grave by members of his lodge, Hood Lodge, Adair County.

Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery, with Rippetoe Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
