PROCTOR - Leo Alfred Pomainville, 89, of Proctor, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Leicester Junction, November 6, 1921, the son of Paul and Laura (LaVictoire) Pomainville.

Leo was a graduate of Proctor High School class of 1941.

He was a member of St. Dominic's Church in Proctor where he was an usher, collector and minister of the altar. He was president of the Holy Name Society and council secretary of the church.

He was a member of the Eagles Club, Knights of Columbus and Loyal Order of the Moose Club.

Leo enjoyed karaoke at the Holiday Inn.

Leo worked on the family farm for 16 years before his employment with Central Vermont Public Service Corp. for 40 years, retiring on January 1, 1987.

In 1951, until present, he resided on the West Proctor Road.

Surviving are two sisters, Lucille Margo of Rutland and Pauline Donahue of Saratoga, N.Y.; a brother, Rene Pomainville of Yucca Valley, Calif.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. Near and dear to his heart were his nieces, Phyllis Callahan of Proctor, Lynn Blanchard of Rutland, Kathleen Callahan of Syracuse, N.Y., Anne Margo Orr of Essex Junction, Laurie Donahue of Queensbury, N.Y., and nephews, Robert Callahan of Binghamton, N.Y., and Jeffrey Callahan of West Hartford, Conn.

He was predeceased by his wife, Anna (McKearin) Pomainville, who died November 9, 1991, and by two sisters, Yvette Pomainville Heath and Jeannette Pomainville Goodrich.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic's Church in Proctor. Burial will be at a later date in St. Dominic's Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Contributions may be made to St. Dominic's Church in Proctor.
