WESTON'S MILLS - Mrs. Elsie V.
Collins of Weston's Mills died Thursday
(June 25,1987) in her home.
Born Dec. 26, 1893, in Weston's Mills,
she was a daughter of Ezer and Cora
Borst. On Oct. 5, 1925, in Portville, she
married Clyde W. Collins, who died Feb.
13,1985.
A lifelong resident of Weston's Mills,
Mrs. Collins was a graduate of Geneseo
Normal School and she had taught in the
Humphrey Township School, Allegany;
the Lillibridge School, town of Portville;
Portville School District 6 of Weston's
Mills; and School 4 in Olean for 33 years,
retiring in 1953.
She was a life member of St. Andrew's
United Methodist Church, was the pianist
and organist of the church for over 50
years, was a church school teacher and
active in the women's organizations of the
church, and was a member of the United
Methodist Women. Mrs. Collins was a
member of the Olean Retired Teachers
Association and Electa Chapter 84, Order
of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are several nieces.
She was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth
Gilmore.
Friends may call at the Guenther Funeral
Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean,
today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral and
committal services will be held Sundav
(June 28, 1987) at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew's
Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Barnes, pastor,
will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut
Hill Cemetery, Portville.
Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's
United Methodist Church, Weston's Mills.
