Scott Crews, 72, of Portal, died Thursday, September 17, in the Bulloch County Hospital after a long illness. He had been associated with law enforcement in Bulloch County most of his life and he was a policeman at portal. He was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association and a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Kate Bragg Crews of Portal; two sisters, Mrs. Elle Pinkle and Mrs. Eddie Pickren, both of Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services were held Friday at 3:30 at the Statesboro First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Smith and the Rev. C. K. Everett. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery in Statesboro. Pallbearers were members of the Bulloch County Peace Officers Assn. The body remained in the chapel of Smith-Tillman Mortuary in Statesboro until the funeral hour.
