William Beadle, 82, N. Main St., died at the Galena Hospital Tuesday March 10 after a lingering illness.
He was born Sept. 25, 1887, at Rice Township the son of the late John and Theresa Shannon Beadle and farmed his entire life until his retirement. He was clerk of the Spring Creek School for many years and assessor of Rice Township for 33 years.
He was united in marriage to Minnie Heller May 25, 1910 at St. Mary's Church, Davenport, Ia.
He is survived by his wife, eight daughters, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Petitgoue, Mrs. Boise (Francis) Murphy, Mrs. Henry (Florence) Bautsch, Mrs. Joseph (Vera) Weinen, Mrs. LeRoy (Virginia) Armstrong, Mrs. David (Joan) Foecking all of Galena, Mrs. Nathan (Catherine) Seeyle of Harvard, Ill., and Mrs. Elmer (Lucille) Rusboldt of Michigan City, Ind., two sons, Donald and Thomas both of Galena, forty-seven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 13 from the Furlong Funeral Chapel to St. Michael's Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Devine celebrating the Mass.
Casket bearers were Allen Beadle, Tom Beadle, Robert Heller, all of Galena, John Beadle of Dubuque, Ia., Alfred Heller of Schullsburg, Wis., and Francis Davis of Apple River, Ill.
Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery.
