Mrs. Bertha Dinkel Dunbar

Bertha Dinkel, only daughter of the late Valentine and Mrs. Maria Dinkel, was born at Pinckney March 4, 1883 and passed away at her home in Jackson, August 28, 1933, at the age of fifty years.

Oct. 4, 1905, she was united in marriage to Wm. J. Dunbar of Unadilla to which union were born three daughters, Marie (now Mrs. Sam Hendrick), Ruth and Isabelle, all of Jackson.

Most of Mrs. Dunbar's early married life was spent in or near Pinckney until they moved to the present home in Jackson where they have resided several years.

In both the home community which watched Bertha grow to womanhood and the city community which has claimed her during her maturer years, news of her death came as a real shock, and cast a decided shadow. She was so highly respected, and so well loved by all who knew her, it was hard to realize that she had so early been called to surrender the life that meant so much to those around her.

The deceased will always be remembered as a most refined and lovable woman -- a friend who was kind and loyal, a wife who was a true help-mate, and a mother to whose care and faithfulness her three daughters bear witness.

Beside the immediate family already mentioned there survive the mother, Mrs. Maria Dinkel, and four brothers, John, Albert, and Gene of Pinckney, and Otto of Sioux City, Iowa; one brother, Walter, having preceeded his sister in death.

A short prayer service will be held at the late home, 306 N. Waterloo Av., Jackson, at 1 p.m. Friday led by Rev. W. E. Doty of the Haven M. E. church where Mrs. Dunbar worshipped; and the regular funeral services will be conducted at the Pinckney Congregational church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. E. J. Berquist officiating. Burial will be in the Pinckney cemetery.
