Funeral services for Mrs Sarah Gasson, 87, who died Thursday morning of last week at her home southwest of Stanton, were held at 2 pm Sunday at Mrs Gasson's home, with the Rev W.F. Clayburg, Villisca Methodist pastor, in charge. Singing was by a quartet composed of Mr and Mrs A.F. Davie, Miss Sylvia Enarson and H.C. Lindell, with Miss Helen Shepherd as accompanist. Burial was made in the North Page cemetery.

Pallbearers were as follows: Harold Gasson, Stanton; Francis Winter, Red Oak; George Stanton, Nodaway; Eidner Peterson, Stanton; Kenneth Lewis, Elliott; Ned Osborn, Villisca.

Sarah Frances Langford Gasson, a Montgomery county pioneer, was one of the eleven children of George and Jane Langford. She was born November 19, 1845, in Bentley, Ill.

On January 25, 1866, she was united in marriage to Thomas Edmond Gasson at Middle Creek, Ill. To this union eight children were born, all of whom were with her at the time of her death.

In October, 1869, Mr and Mrs Gasson with their two older children, came to Iowa in a covered wagon and settled at Villisca. In the spring of 1870 they built the home southwest of Stanton where Mrs Gasson lived the remainder of her life.

She was a charter member of the Cramer Chapel Methodist Episcopal church. After many years of service, this church was discontinued and her membership was transferred to the Villisca charge.

Mrs Gasson was preceded in death by her husband who passed away March 29, 1901. On April 24, 1928, at the age of 83, she was bereaved by the death of her twin sister, Mrs Mary Immegart, who had spent several of the later years of her life in the Gasson home.

Mrs Gasson is survived by her eight children who are: Mrs N.P. Cronwall, Nodaway; Dr J.H. Gasson, Red Oak; Mrs John Winter, Mrs Bert Dirim, Mrs Guy Dirrim, all of Villisca; E.E. Gasson, Stanton; Mrs Jesse Lewis, Elliott; Miss Myrtle Gasson, who resided with her mother.

Besides her children, she is survived by twenty-two grandchildren and sixteen greatgrandchildren, one sister, Mrs John Everhart of Caney, Kas, and a sister-in-law, Mrs John Langford of Carthage, Illinois.
