Eugene W, Schmitt, 70, of Route 3, Sheboygan Falls, died Wednesday at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was bom Oct. 24, 1909, in the Town of Wilson, a son of the late Joseph and Rosa (Schecher) Schmitt. He farmed most of his life on the family homestead in the Town of Lima and was also employed at Streu Construction Co.. Vollrath Co., C. Reiss Coal Co., and VanDerVaart Co., from which he retired in 1968. On Sept. 29, 1945, he married Lorraine Schmelter in the Town of Wilson. Mr. Schmitt was a member of St. George Catholic Church, Town of Wilson, and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. A funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in the Town of Wilson. The Rev. Eugene Winkler, pastor, will officiate. Brief family services will precede the Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the Huehns Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Sheboygan.
