Rose Marie Jorgensen, daughter of Jorgen and Kirstine (Andersen) Jorgensen, was born November 28, 1915 in Colman, SD. She grew up and received her education in the Dell Rapids, SD area.
Rose was united in marriage with Bert E. Scofield on June 30, 1953 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. Rose worked for a number of years as a nurse's aide at Ebenezer Home.
Rose was a member of Central Baptist Church. She lived her faith through serving people to honor her love for Jesus Christ. Whether it was caring for residents at Ebenezer Home, entertaining folks with music (she taught herself to play many instruments, including the piano, guitar and accordion, to name a few), or just providing a sympathetic, listening ear, Rose was happiest when she was helping others. In later years, Rose kept her caregivers at Good Samaritan Center and Terrace Manor smiling with her quick wit and keen sense of humor.
Grateful for having shared her life are many nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, on September 22, 2006; her parents; three sisters, Edna Hoyme, Lillian Jorgensen, Darlene Halvorson; and four brothers, Russell, Erroll "Shorty", Wendell and Kenneth Jorgensen.
