Bio
I' am From Brooklyn Heights NY, born in Manhattan NY. I Joined the Women Army Corps in 1969. In 1979 the WAC was deactivated and spend the rest of my time in the regular army retired 14 1/2 yrs service as a E7 SFC Combat Medic. I received a medical honorable discharge in 1984 due to a back injury I had while stationed in Germany 1972. I graduated from Texas A&M VET school in 1984,moving on to other interest.
I have been doing genealogy since 2005, after finding my own family with the help of my genealogy group from PA (Luzerne connections) I started out here in SD as a photo volunteer, then moved on to photographing Veterans graves, later I photographed entire cemetery's. Wood Lawn, Hills Of Rest, St Michaels and some of Mount Pleasant.
I will remove any or all memorials when requested by family. the cemetery office has nothing to do with findagrave, contact me direct. concider Asking for a transfer before asking to remove, so data/ photos are not lost.
I'm not a NUMBERS PERSON, or grab obits out of newspapers. I go to the cemetery in town photogragh and look for the OBITS on newspapers.com for names to go with it. I do findagrave for family that are searching for thier family, just one headstone can open alot of doors and can further research the family. Not everybody on FG are stacking numbers and don't bother to look any further. Spend a day in a cemetery, lots of history out there, learn how these people lived. Learn about our Veterans, can you imagine standing in front of a headstone for a vet who was the first to step foot on the beach on V Day.
I include the Temp markers until a perm HS in place. this by all means doesn't mean family is being cheap by not getting a marker. There are graves that only have a Temp marker and may be the only one they will get. No grave should go unmarked or be a unknown.
please make sure the info you are sending for a edit is correct, reason I include contributor info, I don't know where the info came from. best to contact the member.
FYI: I use a HS pic on a memorial I did and often put that same pic on a memorial somebody esle posted even if there is no DOD, if I find a updated HS I will replace it. Please don't accuse me as somebody did that I stole the pic and not suppose to do it.I used to copyright a HS, guess that person didn't see it or knew what it was.
