Mr Bryson was the oldest of fifteen children. At the age of eighteen he enlisted in the British army serving three years in Africa. Returning to Great Britain in 1841 he was chosen one of the guards at the coronation of the Prince of Wales, now King Edward of England. In 1843 Mr Bryson came to Chicago and the same year united his fortunes with Elizabeth Dick who proved an affectionate and faithful wife until her demise last July. They were blessed with seven children, all of whom survive: W.A. of Hendley, Nebraska; T.D. of California; John M. and Mrs George Thurber of Springfield, Missouri; D.J., Mrs John Kendall and Mrs Will McCoy of North Grove. There are four sisters living having mourned the loss of their last brother. They are: Mrs Mary Arbuckle and Mrs George Burnside of Villisca; Mrs Janet Hamilton of Bedford; and Mrs M. West of Arizona.
Mr Bryson came to Iowa in 1859 and has lived on the same farm ever since. He had many acquaintances and was highly respected for his christian character, moral worth and hospitality. VILLISCA REVIEW, Villisca, Iowa, Sep 24, 1902
