The following may they moved to Plainfield, Ill. coming by way of the great laked to Chicago in a sail boat and from there to Plainfield in a prairie schooner. They resided until 1859, when they moved to Odell and have lived in and around Odell ever since. Mr. Baker gas well known, coming here when our town was in its infancy and when the cry of the wolf was a common thing. In speaking of the departed, no higher tribute to anyone could be paid that to say he was a loving husband, a good father and kind neighbor, and his loss will be keenly felt by those who knew him best.
