Funeral services for Mildred Lee Carter will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Crider and the Rev. Bill Ichter. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. Visitation will be today, March 14, 2011, from 5 until 7:30 p.m. at Rose-Neath.

Mrs. Carter was born on Oct. 7, 1913, in Haynesville to Exa Deloach Lee and Claude C. Lee. She passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ezra S. Carter; her son, Tim Carter; and her brother, Frank Lee.

She is survived by her brother, Halen Lee and wife, Lucy of Longview, Texas; son, Ezra S Carter, Jr and wife, Diana of Brighton, Michigan; grandchildren, Karen Suffecool and husband, Dave of Columbus, Ohio, Michelle Hoskins and husband, Tom of Dayton, Ohio, Ezra S. Carter, III and wife, Crystal of Charlotte, North Carolina, Renee LaViness and husband, Gene of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Myke Carter and wife Lori, of Lexington, Kentucky. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Mildred led a full life and enjoyed working in her gardens. She had a special talent and love for growing many varieties of flowers, especially roses. Many of her shared specimen plants grace the lawns of family and friends.

She lived her life centered around her love and commitment to God and was very active in First Baptist Church of Minden. Her unselfish giving to others often found her preparing meals for and visiting with shut-ins. Her quick laugh and upbeat attitude will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be O. D. Cox, Robert Addison, Alton Kiser, Winfred Weldon, Bill Funderburk and Ezra S. Carter III.
