Marian Elizabeth Ostler Harker Shelton , age 93, passed away June 8, 2005, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born June 9, 1912 in Salt Lake City to John Elmo and Gladys Hamlin Ostler .
She was the oldest of four daughters.
Married to Benjamin H. Harker on August 18, 1934 in New York City; later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
He preceded her in death. Married Edgar George Card Shelton , January 4, 1961. He died December 14, 1979.
Graduate of East High School and attended LDS Business College.
Winner of state high school competition for vocal solo.
She was selected for LDS Church and civic operas.
She was the vocalist at many weddings and funerals, including those of LDS Church and civic leaders.
She served as music director for stakes and wards for 33 years.
Active in and long-term member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Raising her three boys was her highest priority and passed on many opportunities to further her vocal career in order to raise her children.
Survived by three sons, Ben H. (Mercedes) Harker, Las Vegas, NV; Jay H. (Diann) Harker, Salt Lake City; Steven C.
(Marlene) Harker, Federal Way, WA; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia (Victor) Christopherson, Tucson, AZ.
Preceded in death by a son, John C. Harker, in infancy; sister, Jane (Max) Christensen, and an infant sister.
Funeral services on Saturday, June 11, 2005, 3 p.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 E. 1300 South, where friends and family may call one hour prior to service.
Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Thanks to the kind staff of Highland Cove Care Center, who made her last days very pleasant; and friends of the Monument Park 15th Ward.
