---La Plata and community are again in mourning by the death of one of its prominent lawyers and fellowmen, Joseph K. Park, who died in St. Louis this morning at 9:00 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. E. Francis. Mr. Park was taken to St. Louis a short time ago for treatment at a hospital in that city but to no avail.
---Joseph K. Park, the youngest son of John and Sarah Park, was born on June 30, 1848, five miles west of Mt. Pleasant, in Henry County, Iowa where he lived until the year 1857 when the homestead was sold. On January 15, 1860, the family removed to Linn County, Missouri, later moving back to Iowa where he grew to manhood.
---Mr. Park was married to Charlotte McQuarry April 13, 1875. He was later married to Mrs. Cora Snow who survives. He is also survived by two sons and three daughters, namely, Austin J. Park of St. Louis, Chester Park of Centralia, Mrs. J.M. Bonham, Mrs. Pauline Godbey and Mrs. Elmer Francis of St. Louis.

---Deceased was a faithful member of the Christian Church, acting as Deacon and was always present until ill health prevented. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and has practiced law in La Plata for a number of years.

---Joseph Park was born in Henry County, Iowa, June 30, 1848, died in St. Louis, Missouri, April 22, 1926 at the home of his daughter, Charlotte.
---He married Mary Brooks November 28, 1868, who died at Kirksville, Missouri January 29, 1874. Two children, John C. and Frank E. Park, were born of this union.
---He married Charlotte McQuarry April 13, 1875, of this union were born Austin E., Charlotte C., Grace L., Chester J., Mary E., Jo Katherine and Pauline M. The mother died January 30, 1904.
---He married Cora M. Snow January 30, 1911 who survives him. Established residence in La Plata May 4, 1875 and there practiced his profession as a lawyer from that date until three weeks before his death.
---In his early life he taught school in Adair County, Missouri and he worked as a journeyman carpenter, helping to construct the State Normal school at Kirksville and assisted at the laying of the cornerstone of the institution. He read law while teaching school and following his trade. He was admitted to the bar shortly before he moved to La Plata.
---He was generous to a fault with his children, six of whom survive, as do eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
---He was active in politics and was drafted to run for various state and county offices and represented his party at various county, state and national conventions. He always stated firmly his convictions on government and advanced strict conformity with established law and order. He served for twenty consecutive years as president of the Board of Education of the La Plata school district.
---He became affiliated with the Masonic Order about thirty years ago and devoted his life to an exemplification of the principles of the Order.
---All of the surviving children and life companion were with him in St. Louis during his last illness.
---He was a member of the Christian Church since early manhood and served for ten years as an elder in the La Plata Church.
