Rev. Harry D. Dowling, 70, 607 W. 11th St., died at 4:15 a.m. Friday at his home following an extended illness. Born at Reed Station, he was a lifelong resident of Delaware County.
Mr. Dowling was a retired minister of the United Christian Church and was a Bishop of that church. He served for eight years as Superior Court baliff under the late Judge Claude Ball, and was a former member of the Muncie Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; four sons, Richard and Charles, Muncie, Harry Jr., Logansport, and James A., Long Beach, Calif.; one stepson, Edward Teal, Muncie; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Dowling, Muncie.
Funeral arrangements are being completed at the Parson Mortuary.
