John Calvin Sierer, 1221 West Seventh, a retired Santa Fe employe, died this morning at 4:45 o'clock a this home.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Mr. Sierer was born September 30, 1870, in Ada, Ohio. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John P. Sierer. Mr. Sierer came to Emporia in 1882. He married Sarah Anne Sanders on March 15, 1898, in Emporia. Mr. Sierer had been an employe of the Santa Fe railroad since he was 16 years old. He was in service 35 years. He retired from active service in July, 1936, because of poor health.

Mr. Sierer is survived by his wife, six daughter, Mrs. W. R. Hogwood and Mrs. R. J. Sterbenz, of Emporia; Miss Ethel Sierer and Miss Helen Sierer, both of Tulsa, Okla.; Miss Margaret Sierer, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Fred M. Hostetter, of Richmond; four sons, John D. Sierer, of Grand Coulee, Wash.; Arthur N. Sierer of Tulsa, Okla., and Edward Sierer and Chester Sierer, both of the home; a brother, Edward B. Sierer, of Seattle, Wash.; a niece, Mrs. J. H. Phillips, of Long Beach, Calif., and two grandchildren, Fugima Ann Hostetter, of Richmond, and Joan Sierer, of Grand Coulee, Wash.
