Wilma Barnard Eason, 93, died Monday, June 18, 2012 in Wichita Falls, Texas following a short illness.
Mrs. Eason was born on February 21, 1919, in Manassas, Georgia, the daughter of Joe and Mamie (Rogers) Bernard. Although she was reared in Tattnall County, Georgia and graduated from Reidsville High School there, when she married W. J. "Buck" Eason in 1938, his work in the oil industry took them across the country. She moved 81 times in her life, living in 41 towns in 11 states. Mrs. Eason played softball and bowled on community teams and played golf. Throughout her life she was an accomplished seamstress and noted cook. She was also artistic, working in ceramics, Toll and oil painting. Mrs. Eason enjoyed card and board games, most notably Bridge, Canasta, Shanghai Rummy, and Scrabble. She was a member of the Reidsville United Methodist church.
Mrs. Eason is survived by her four daughters and their husbands: Linda and Jerry Berry of Aurora Colorado, Jackie and Conrad Swensson of Aurora Colorado Cindy and Johnny Moore of Olney, Texas and Phyllis and Matt Howard of Bakersfield, California; one sister, Nona McGregor of Columbus, Georgia; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Virginia Kicklighter of Reidsville, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband preceded her in death.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held in Reidsville.
Memorials may be made to the Reidsville United Methodist Church, 123 East Brazell Reidsville, GA 30453.
