Violet Marie O'Neal Dortmundt, 93, died Friday, Sept. 6, 1996.
Mrs. Dortmundt was a native of Norfolk County and the daughter of the late William Stephen and Mary Wealtha Phillips O'Neal Sr. She was a member of the Monumental Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy S. and Bill O'Keeffe of Tulsa, Okla.; Vivian Juanita S. H. Eanes of Colonial Heights, Carolyn D. and Henry Shipp of Brevard, N.C.; a stepson, Elwood and Ann Dortmundt of Brevard; a brother, William S. "Buddy" and Elizabeth O'Neal Jr. of Chesapeake; and a host of grandchildren that span three generations.
Mrs. Donrmundt was preceded in death by two sons, Horace Spence Jr., Forest Spence; three sisters; and four stepsons.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Riverside Memorial Park, 600 E. Indian River Road, Norfolk, by her nephew, the Rev. Daniel Jones of Reidsville, N.C. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. today in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monumental Baptist Church, South Crater Road, Petersburg, Va. 23805.
