Services for Loretta Burgins Cheatham, 90, Tyler, formerly of Troup and Arp, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with the Rev. Kenneth Antley officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup.
Mrs. Cheatham died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in a Tyler hospice facility. She was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Collin County to the late Virgil M. Burgins Sr. and Lurinda Shubert Burgins. Mrs. Cheatham was a longtime resident of East Texas.
She retired in 1984 from the Arp Independent School District where she was employed in food service.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of God. She was a devoted Christian with unwavering faith. She was currently a member of the Azalea Gardens Church of God, Tyler.
Mrs. Cheatham was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jesse Mills Cheatham, in 1988, and by brothers, Roy Burgins and Bennie Burgins.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Jo Lavender and Ludy and Wes Toothman, all of Tyler; a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Rayburn Tomlin, Troup; a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil "Dugie" and Shirley Burgins, Arp; grandchildren, Teresa Brumley, Susan Lingberg, Michael Morgan, Carolyn Simoneaux, Sarita McCarty and Jennifer Lang; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bronson McCarty, Brandon Simoneaux, David Lingberg, John Lingberg, Michael Morgan and David Harris.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3.
