Alfonso Baca, 86, of Avondale, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2000. Mr. Baca was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Avondale. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Luciana Baca; parents, Jose and Adela Baca; son, Robert Baca; and daughter, Viola Finn. He is survived by his children, Ferdie Baca, Avondale, Priscilla (Mike) Berens, Arvada, Edward (Lydia) Baca, Colorado Springs, Armando (Jennie) Baca, Avondale, Alex (Pauline) Baca, Pueblo, Linda (Antonio) Flores, Littleton, Joey (Clara) Baca, Arvada, Jess (Cindy) Baca, Pueblo, Mary (Jerry) Fordham, Colorado Springs, and Larry (Esther) Baca, Pueblo; and grandchildren he raised, James, Veronica, Ruben and Paul, for a total of 53 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Baca enjoyed caring for his flowers and trees. He will always be remembered for his smiling eyes and wonderful sense of humor. Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, at Adrian Comer Garden Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, to be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Avondale. Interment will be at St. Vrain Cemetery in Avondale. Friends will be received at the home of Larry and Esther Baca, 5103 Athos Court. The family may be reached at (719) 560-0695. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 704 Elm, Pueblo, Colo., 81004, in memory of Alfonso Baca.
