Suggested edit: Nellie's Texas death certificate indicates she was born near Vinita, Oklahoma. At the time of her birth Vinita was basically a trading post in Cooweescoowee District of the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee is a nation composed of people of many races with one important characteristic: each member is a descendant of at least one person who appeared on the Dawes Roll.
