Windsor Twp., Lawrence Co., OH, and was the daughter of Samuel David Lewis Sr.
and Rhoda (Miller) Lewis, both from Virginia. She first married Jacob D. Smith
who died in 1869. To this union were born six children. Their son, Jacob,
became a prosecuting attorney and eventually a state senator representing the
Hamlin, WV area. In 1872, Barbara Jane married John Dillon, his second marriage
as well. To this union were born: John H., Jennette Nettie and Victoria Allie
May Dillon. Presumably Barbara Jane may have met John in the Windsor Twp. or
Crown City area where husband John lived and farmed in Gallia Co., as John's
brother, Vincent Dillon Sr., also lived nearby in Windsor Twp. of Lawrence Co.
She lived a long and stimulating
life. Barbara Jane's gravesite photo was taken in the Harvey's Creek Cemetery
next to husband John.
