Tuesday Rites Set For Landers, Pioneer Citizen

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for M A J Landers, 89, pioneer Cobb County citizen who aided in the development of Powder Springs and surrounding area.

Mr Landers, a retired merchant and prominent Powder Springs citizen, died Sunday. Rites will be held at 2 pm in Powder Springs Baptist Church, the Rev A J Patterson and the Rev G W Southard officiating. Remains will be placed in state at the church from 1 pm until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Powder Springs Cemetery.

Mr Landers entered the mercantile business in Powder Springs in 1918 and retired in 1934. He was a member of the Powder Springs Baptist Church and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife and the following children: Mr and Mrs G M Landers, Mr and Mrs W R Landers, Mr and Mrs C L Landers, Mr and Mrs M A Landers, Mr and Mrs Guy Jones, Mr and Mrs C N Landers, Mr and Mrs Clay Jackson, Mr and Mrs Jack Landers Jr, Mrs Elsie Landers, Mr and Mrs Herbert Moss, Mr and Mrs Howard Moss, Mrs Homer Scott, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
