Robert was born in Ireland in 1824, immigrated to the New York on May 19, 1851 - settled in Darien with his wife, Bridget Murphy. They lived there raising their family until her death in January of 1861(or1862). Robert then enlisted in the 13th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, leaving his young children in the care of neighbors.
Upon his return in 1865, he courted and married Margaret McDonald and their son Charles and his family is buried here in St. Andrews also.
Robert was a suicide by hanging on September 18, 1892 at his farm outside Delavan.
