Carl D. McNutt, 80, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Dekalb County, he graduated from Garrett High School. He was a meat cutter and Assistant Manager for A&P groceries for many years, working in Ft. Wayne, Kendallville, Auburn, and Sturgis MI. He retired from Oren Van Amen after 16 years He attended Unity Christ Church. Carl was a collector of oddities and antiques and proud of his 1931 Model A. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop. Surviving his loving daughters, Jolynn (Dennis) Gunder of New Haven, and Cynthia (William) McNutt of Fort Wayne; and his wife, Dorothy Kantz of New Haven; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Vada Starr; brother, Bill McNutt of Garrett. Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Jola Jean McNutt; parents, Lemon Henry and Mary McNutt; brother, George McNutt; and sister, Marna Deventor. Service is 10 am Friday, March 4, 2011 at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Rev Mary Wood officiating. Calling from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm Thursday, March 3, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Fairfield Center Cemetery, Corunna, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
