MASON CITY - Bryan Alvin Mott, 48, of Mason City, died Saturday (March 6, 1999) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S. E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Bryan Alvin Mott was born November 14, 1950, in Mason City. He attended St. Joseph School, Newman High School and graduated from Mason City High School in 1969. He was active in Future Farmers of America. Bryan attended NIACC receiving his A.A. degree in 1977 and graduated with a B.A. from Loras College in Dubuque.

Bryan served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Unit during the Vietnam Conflict and received an Honorable Discharge.

John Deere Dubuque Works employed Bryan for 10 years and at Iowa State University, Ames.

He was a member of VFW Post 733, Mason City, and participated in the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association Honor Guard for many funerals. He also belonged to the American Legion.

Bryan's hobbies included fishing, taking pictures, gardening, camping and traveling.

Bryan is survived by his son, Jason A. Mott and his wife, Danah; and two grandchildren, Brantly and Lacie Mott, whom he adored and idolized. A third grandchild is expected in September. He is also survived by his mother, Cecelia Mott; sister, Marcele Kaduce and her husband, Carroll, Mason City; three brothers, Kenneth Mott and Douglas Mott, Dubuque; and Roger Mott, Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Mott, on December 24, 1998.
