Son of John Glover who immigrated in 1755 from England. Croton Cemetery is one of Iowa's oldest cemeteries. Amos began as a drummer boy in Captain William Moore's Militia Company, 2nd Delaware Regiment. Mustered into service 10 JUL 1780 to serve in the Continental Army of the U.S. (Ref. B-644) (Research):In "Myers' History of W.VA."Volume 2 page 364...(this is just the highlights) "When (brothers) Amos and Nehemiah Glover left Delaware, they came to western PA. Nehemiah settling in Greene Co. and Amos in Washington Co. Amos was married shortly after arriving in Washington Co. and became the father of five sons and two daughters: David, James, Thomas, Crawford, Samuel, Sarah and Nancy. In 1814 he moved to Belmont Co. Ohio and when he was 80 yrs old he moved to Iowa with his youngest daughter".

Amos first moved to Iowa at age 80 (ca 1840). Before Iowa, he lived in Belmont Co, OH but was originally a pioneer of Preston Co, WV.
