Vardaman, Miss.--William Sherman Haire, 64, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Miss., Lafayette County. He was born in Calhoun County, Miss. on December 7, 1946 to William Franklin Haire, Sr. and Mattie Moore Haire. He was a native of Vardaman, Miss. He was a forestry worker and a member of Jesus is Lord Church of Vardaman, Miss. He raised 10 children on his own.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today (February 28, 2011) at Jesus is Lord Church in Vardaman, Miss. with Bro. Johnny Davidson and bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating, Burial will be in Rocky Mount Cemetery in Calhoun County, Miss. Southern Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include 10 children, Mary Pettit (Kyle), Big Creek, Miss., Mannie Sanders of Vardaman, Miss., Rebecca Mays of Vicksburg, Miss., Charlotte Haire of Vardaman, Miss., Patricia Jenkins (Carl) of Vardaman, Miss., William Sherman Haire, Jr. (Carisa) of Vicksburg, Miss., Jeanette Wilkerson (Quinton) of Vardaman, Miss., Annette Harris (Stephen) of Vardaman, Miss., April Galloway (Ben) of Vardaman, Miss. and Liza Loerimore (Kevin) of Coffeeville, Miss.; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna Martin Haire in November 14, 1984; a brother, Walter haire; a sister Mattie Lou Beckum; and two grandsons, Casey Wilkerson and Ben Galloway, jr.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Pettit, Kevin Lowrimore, Stephen Harris, ben Galloway, Quinton Wilkerson and Carl kenkins.
